Manix in my mail.

I have been randomly placing online orders for the old, full sized, plain edged, black handled, fills your hand like a triple cheeseburger Manix. This usually resulted in a email saying "sorry we no longer carry that model". Last week I found a site that showed the Manix I wanted in stock, so I placed an order. I got the standard order confirmation and figured I'd give it a couple days and see the response. I never got any replies after 2 days so I checked back on the site and noticed the Manix had been removed from their product list completely. I was sure the "sorry" email would follow shortly. I had planned on sending an email to the site or calling today after work but when I got home there was a fat little spyderco box in my mail. :)

Nice choice bro.. Manix is my personal favorite...

The Manix are made in Golden right?

If so, I may have to pick one up

5.56, I believe so. Anything with a CPM blade (S30V, D2, 154CM) is made in Golden. :)

Any Manix with plain edge is getting pretty hard to come by these days. The combos are still to be had at a good price. After stupidly selling my black PE large, back early in the year I got another en route. So that makes 3 F/G's a PE mini and a Large PE black. I can rest easy now. (and yes they are for sure made in the USA)

Is it really hard to get one nowadays off the exchange? Out of curiosity, I hear nothing but great things about the Manix, so why doesn't Spyderco produce them any more? (perhaps i'll just start a thread in the spyderco forum later...)

Plain edge is hard to find as they are the most desired ones. The combos are still on eBay for about discount price. Of course all of them will start to become hard to find (like all well loved Sypderco models when they are discontinued) as time passes.
Yes, the plain edge doesn't come up for sale very often on the exchange here. I got one this week all the way from Australia and had to pay a bit more than I did at discount for my other one. The rate of exchange probably kept the price down a bit at that. (when you factor in the shipping was included)
Look for the F/G's to really start to rise in value by the first of next year. As there was only 600 made and I predict they will be surpassing the large BLK PE in the near future, as to cost they will command. They are already bringing more than they did this past summer.

Gotcha, thanks for the info jill jackson:thumbup: I guess i'm just going to have to keep my eyes open and some money stashed away for when one does pop up.

I am jealous ,I have a Chinook3 I love but the manix is more Spydercoish with the classic leaf shaped blade. It is also in my opinion a better knife than all the more expensive heavy duty folders like the ZTs ,Striders etc.

I have a hope that there will be a Manix2 with a comp lock soon. Regardless of the lock type I cant see them not bringing a replacement with it being such a popular knife.

CURSE YOU SPYDERCO FOR DISCONTINUING THE MANIX!!!! (shakes fist to the sky)RAAAHHHHH!!!!!....

In all seriousness, I want one bad.

I have a large plain edge green one coming (eBay) and a mini too (BladeHQ). I also have a large black plain edge on order but it could be 50/50 that I get the dreaded "it's not available" email.
