Manix lockup problem?

I don't blame you. If you have any gunshows in the area maybe a dealer will have one there that you can inspect.

My Manix is as solid as a vault door at a bank. I agree with APS, however, that since there are many people concerned about the vertical play potential, they would best check out the knife at a local dealer or at a blade show.

I have purchased many knives over the net - I love the prices. However, the plus side when you go with a local shop is that you get to check the very knife you are looking to buy. That is worth something and can save a lot of grief later on. That's how I purchased my Manix and I absolutely love it. What a hunk of steel!

I've whined about play in the past, but I'm starting more and more to not care as long as it is only slight and is still safe. I've notice that, with heavy duty use, pretty much any knife with any type of lock will develope a little play. It really doesn't matter to me anymore unless it is really bad, but just feeling a slight wiggle when I grip the very tip of the knife is just silly to complain about in a non custom to me from now on.

Its funny but true that of all my knives its the inexpensive $25 Kershaws that have the least blade play in my collection. I have a Vapor II that is several years old that feels so damn solid. It annoys me that my $120 Para has more play than my two $25 Kershaws:rolleyes:

I know what you mean. My Byrd lock backs are rock solid but my Manix has vertical play. The Manix is a great design and I deal with it but it bugs me everytime I cut with it.
