Just got my invoice for the 2 Manix M4s I pre-ordered. The paypal invoice had a note attached saying:

"The tan Manix 2 that you are being invoiced is part of the opening order of 600 pieces. Please be advised that we have the option to reorder 400 more at a time."

Does this mean there will be more than 600 of these made? Thoughts? Opinions?

If all 600 did indeed sell and they still had more people wanting to pre order, than I am sure they'd order another batch. I believe a "sprint run" can be as many as 1200 pieces before it's consider production or exclusive.

If they do make more it will definitely keep the costs down on the secondary market. The price couldn't be marked up like some of the previous sprints.

Sounds like that knife is a dealer exclusive, rather than a Sprint. In which case, the dealer who sponsored it can reorder Spyderco's minimum quantity for that model, or more, as often as they wish.

I got my invoice too, finally! I was starting to get impatient and still can't believe how much they're going for on eBay.

Yep, just like the GITD Manix 2.

IMO the fact that they made a point to make sure everybody who bought one knew it, more being produced is almost guaranteed.

WOW! I wonder if these people know they could probably still order one direct from the dealer for $150!

Mine cost $160.85 shipped. Should be here some time next week. Looking forward to trying a Manix 2 and M4 both of which are new to me.

I had to go look. One is bid up to 360 dollars. The seller is claiming #75 of 200. Maybe I should put mine on ebay.

I was thinking about the option to make more listed on the invoice as well.
I've already got a Manix II (like most of you probably) and I changed my mind a couple times on getting this one.
In the end I went ahead and ordered it. Of all the Spydercos I've got I think this is a real strong design.

That was a numbered collector club model hence being limited to 200. The limited part being that it was numbered not the knife itself.

And even that claim is inaccurate. Given that it was a variant, there are considerably less than 200 of them with Collectors Club numbers.

I got in too late to order one. I'm so-o-o disappointed!! einsteinjon, do you know of any dealers who still might have the Manix2 M4? I've looked at eBay and just can't afford to pay that much!

I believe they are still taking pre-orders for them at Bento Box Shop, so you are not too late. Since this is an exclusive, Bento Box is the only store that carries them at the pre-order price. You just have to put your name in and wait for a few weeks.

There's only one dealer, Bento Box Shop. They almost certainly still have some coming into inventory that are not yet sold.

Thanks, guys. Their "Pre-Order" link was still active so I may still have a chance to pick one up. So much steel, so little time and money! I appreciate the replies.
