manix mania

The Clip on the Manix2 87mm will be the same as the stainless Endura and Delica. The blade thickness will be slightly over 3mm. We haven’t determined the thickness of the larger version.

Love the clips with the slightly "spooned" bottom. Course I love my Millie's clip too. Nice and cuuuuurvy.

When you say you refined the ergo's on the knife, how so? Anything major or just touched on them? I know how carefully designed most of these knives are.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, the BBL integration on the proto looks fantastic. Not bulky or odd at all. I know I love the D'Allara's BBL, and I'm looking forward to testing out the caged ball version.

I am in for at least one.........

Thanks for posting.

We can’t show too much because it’s a Proto. This is the Manix2 87mm
-Dual stainless liners
-Evolved jimping
-Reversible hourglass clip
-Enlarged lanyard
-Thinner/lighter/longer (But still incredibly strong)
-Ball bearing lock
-Improved ergonomics
-The first version will be 154CM Black G-10
We’ll have lightweights and upgraded steels to come later. We’re also working on the larger version.
Thanks for all the support on the Manix and we’re glad to have the opportunity to make another.

Thanks for the pics Eric. I saw this proto when I stopped and talked to Sal at the Oregon Knife Collectors show in Eugene last spring. Being a great fan of the Manix (I have four) I can say that I was impressed. This knife is much slimmer and lighter and I have mixed emotions about the ball lock, but all in all, it's a nice knife. I must say though, when I think Manix, I think tank and this Manix is a tank that's been to weight watchers.:D

Can someone give a ballpark estimate on the new Manix's release date and price point?

Even if it released next week it would feel like forever-and-a-day :p

As for the price.......I'd say an arm and maybe a leg should do it :D With spyderco's generosity perhaps just an arm shall do it ;)

Certainly quite the list of welcome features. Also someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see any other 154 blades in Spydercos collection. Is it CPM 154?

My immediate big question though would be why the change of steel? That seemed to be one of the favored features of the Manix before. And more importantly why the change of lock and has the ball bearing proved to be stronger? I know many of the manix users I've talked to list the strength of the spine lock as one of their favorite parts of it. One guy I know used just a Manix and a Tom Brown Tracker to dismantle a former grow op.

Also will the blade be available in combo plain/spyder and plain edge?

Oh and that enlarged lanyard hole will be nice I know getting paracord through mine was a pain.

aloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooha!!!

I love my Manix, it has given me over 2 years of hard service with plenty of battle scars to show for it. It still locks up rock solid and takes the best edge of any of my S30V knives. The new Manix looks like it will be very nice, but it is screaming for a tougher steel that takes nice edges like CPM D2, or my favorite, CPM M4. I love ball locks and the new jimping looks great, the Manix 2 will surely be putting a dent in my wallet.

I do not see any problem with 154CM at all while yes I love S30V I still like 154CM a lot

Hi 1kimo4u :D

Not all for me. I only kept 1 of them. The rest went to my Aussie mates, some of whom are members here :P Sharing the love of the Manix is a good thing !

I WISH I had 11 Manixes... unfortunately for me only 1 black and 1 FG :)

I think Jill lurks waiting for manix threads. I have 4 but suck at taking pics so just pretend mine look the same as Jill's except there isn't grass under them just snow.

Too lazy to take pic. A Saskatchewan Big Manix here.

i am glad to say that i am now a proud owner of a mini manix. now wondering if i need the 83mm.
