They do feel different in the hand. I have relatively small hands and short thumbs and the position of the opening hole makes the Manix easier for me to open. The Chinook requires more "reach", if that makes sense. On the other hand, once open, the deeper "saddle" of the Chinook handle feels better to me, the "point" in the Manix's grip area can get annoying at times. The Chinook is also more space efficient. The "tail" on the Manix handle increases the closed length, making it take even more room in the pocket while adding nothing of value.

As far as construction goes, I'd say they're near equals.
Deacon pretty much covered everything else.
Similiar construction, but two entirely different beasts. Try them both.
