Manix XL vs Adamas

This thread made me go to Basspro to look at an Adamas. Not my cup of tea, but it does look unbreakable. Fit and finish were spot on.

What made me wonder was I saw on a reputable dealers website that the Manix XL weighed 6.2 ozs. That is an ounce heavier than what it shows in last years catalog. It just got me to thinking if they changed something or beefed it up. After some further research it seems it was just a misprint on the sellers website.

Spyderco Manix2 XL C95G2 Specifications:
length overall 8.94" (227 mm)
blade length 3.85" (98 mm)
blade thickness 0.125" (3.2 mm)
blade steel CPM S30V
weight 5.2 oz (147 g)
handle material G-10

Benchmade 275 Adamas Specifications:
Overall Length: 8.70"
Blade Length: 3.82"
Blade Thickness: 0.160"
Blade Material: D2 Tool Steel
Weight: 7.70oz.
Handle Material: G10

A more apt comparion may perhaps be Adamas vs. Tuff or Contego vs. Manix2 XL.

I want a Manix XL and I have no need for an Adamas. I think if I had one I would grind down the parts of the handle that stick out front and back to make it more rounded while still protecting the blade tip. Or I can wait till someone makes my perfect knife.
