Manix2 light weight question

hey! Thanks! I didnt know u can take the blade out. I somehow imaginged a piece of lint or crap getting stuck inside the knife and not being able to take it out.

You're welcome. Rycen is right, the older ones were completely riveted, but any newer one will have a torx pivot. They're tough knives, a lot tougher than many give them credit for.

I believe all of their FRN models use rivets. It's worked fine for me.

Most of the FRN models released since the E4/D4 came out back 14-15 years ago are torx screw construction. Are you saying your Stretch is riveted? I've never seen one like that, just the usual screw/d-bolt combination like below:

P Puppadore most traditional knife like all case, GEC, or buck 110's (and many like it) do not have any screws and are considered to be very reliable. Interestingly on that end of the knife market, screws are sometimes detested for looking bad and making construction too easy vs a well seated pin, especially a pin that is polished into a bolster or the scales.

I wouldn't worry about it. Flush the pivot and lock every now and then with light oil or Clean, Lube, Prevent (CLP) and you're good to go. Bearing knives are the only I've ever needed to disassemble because it was sluggish and it ended up being a rusty detent ball on the knife. Flushed that and it was all good. I prefer washers over bearings 9 times out of 10 anyway so I don't see that issue much anymore.

For lint, I think the main places I see it build-up to an appreciable amount is on back spacers and blade tangs, both of which are really easy to clean without disassembly. Just wash out the back spacer and you can scrape it off the blade tang. Picks are pretty useful tools as well.

You're correct , don't know wth I was thinking .

I don't think disassembly is necessary it is a nice option to have and with a knife like the Manix 2 with some pretty options ie different scales and new ball cage I do somewhat understand peoples desire on this model. If the stock knife is all you ever will want from it then the rivets shouldn't matter at all.

I own many Spyderco's, most contain screws and have never taken any of them apart. I clean them with light spray lubricant and pick out any debris. Then wipe them down and their ready to go.

The list includes: Endura, Delica, Dragonfly, Manix, Military, Paramilitary and so on.
