Mantra 2, finally got one on the way

There are not too many knives in CPM-M4, especially those with 3" blades. I've always liked the way my Gayle Bradley 1 cuts, slices, holds an edge and sharpens. The problem is it's just too heavy and handle long for a small skinny guy like me to EDC. Now for a specific project, I use it, then put it up.

The Mantra 2 should cover the issue of weight, the handle is thin(ease of carry), I know the blade is going to slice, no doubt. I like titanium handles as well.
Happy to receive another M4.

The old GB:

I love the Mantra 2, it disappears in the pocket. Also like the extended cutting edge over the Mantra. I think the mass of the Mantra blade helps a bit with the flipping action. Both are great knives. Would love to see a Mantra 2 XL with S110v, enlarged hole, and washers rather than bearings. Think you'll like the Mantra 2, it's a great knife.

Great to hear, wish I could say the same!
Amazingly I have yet to pick up either of the Mantras yet. I am not a huge frame lock fan, but I really like the Delica'esque design, and of course the M4.
Eventually I will get my hands on one. Curious to hear your feedback.

Good carry for me.

Well used, I love it:thumbup:
Got a little heat anno going there, great.

I never tried to take care of this knife, just use it. I wanted to see how much it could take with little care other than sharpening, I haven't been kind to this knife... I think there might be some concrete mix dust left over in the bearing pivot area from one of my house project, sliced open about 10 sacks then put the edge back on. I need to give it a day at the spa.

No reason for me, I just wanted to try a Mantra and the 2 was in stock at the time.

2 is waaaay smaller in pocket, one of very few low profile carry's for spyderco. Love the hole though, and the 2 is ugly :) So it's easy to justify buying both,

I've been carrying a reground Mantra 2 for a month or so now. I'm not a particularly great fan of flippers, framelocks, or heavy titanium handles, but the Mantra is just so well designed it's knocked my Dragonfly 2 out of pocket.

and the 2 is ugly

I agree. It's ugly because Spyderco insists on dropping the point near the tip so as to make it thicker and less fragile. Same as on the Police 3, Endura and Delica. Ruins the aesthetic.

Yeah, I can't say I am a fan of that either. Before I ignored it, but finally got out some sand paper and fixed it a bit on my Delica.

What's sort of ironic is that the drop near the point is exactly what a blade looks like after a user has snapped off the tip and then ground down the spine to fix it. They could just use less of a distal taper to create a thicker tip.

It's a shame they just can't leave a nice thin pointy tip. If people would stop using them as prybars or screwdrivers they probably could.

:)Got my Mantra in this PM.
I'll start with the con first because it's the only one. The blade is NOT sharp, every Spyderco I've ever had, came in cutting much better than this. I can fix this with my Edge Pro, so there it ends.
I can find no flaws in this knife, every detail is spot on. Looks great no unevenness . Lockup solid and early. Flipping easy. Blade parking dead center. Fits nicely in pocket, not too thick or heavy. It's what I expected.

Reprofile, definitely.
The angle is so steep I can't touch the edge with the Sharpmaker. I will change the angle with the Edge Pro and all will be well.:D

I really like the Mantra 2, especially the size.

Ouch, I think the M4 is not quite right. In cutting a little cardboard a flat spot developed on the edge. I resharpened it thinking I may not have gotten the burr completely off.
Cut again, same thing, a flat spot developed at the same place. Sharpened again, cut again, same blade damage.

What!

Too soon to make a conclusion, but my Gayle Bradley is a hog for cardboard.
