How does the factory install leather washer handles on the 7" combat knives? Would it be possible to install the same metal handle butt from the 7" combat knife on a pilot survival knfe?
The handle is made from individual leather washers that have a rectangle cut-out and are stacked on the tang. The butt is installed and then the washers are milled to shape. The butt on the 5" survival
knife is retained by peening the tang at the end. The butt on the 7" fighting/utility knife (Mark 2) is retained by a pin that runs through the tang. The 7" butt could be installed on the 5" survival knife by drilling the tang.
