Excellent looking little knives!!

At first I thought I was looking at some synchronized swimmers except they weren't giving me a big toothy grin. :D Is this the home made micarta made with the fiberglass resin? It makes a good looking handle material.

some of it is and some of it is the earlyer batches made with the table top 2 part clear coat. the fiberglass epoxy seems to set stiffer with a down side of short pot life and not clear both seem to have there place and til i try a few more "clear epoxys" i might have to not do white faberic layups

Beautiful stuff there Butch!
I have to admit that you are one of the inspirations I have to make this stuff up and offer for sale.
May I ask how you are prepping the materials for this?
Is that a cherry print fabric I see?

hand sandto 320 -400 grit and seal with epoxy or super glue (high gloss finish) sand smooth and buff

and yes cherry print it is

Sorry, I was not clear...I was wondering what you did to the fabric before wetting and pressing. I'm curious about the cool burls.

As far as I know Butch is doing it kind of "rag style". Cut your fabric up into little bits, mix it up with resin, pour it into a form and press it. For the burl stuff anyways.

Cool kneckers! Kind of coincidental, I just finished this today - my first try at making micarta. I used the Bondo fiberglass resin, a bunch of clamps and a heavy vise, and this is what came out. The material was from two old BDU shirts, one black and one tan (kinda obvious). Anyway, thanks Butch for all the info and pics I found while researching how to do this.
