The Mapinguari, wich borrows his name from a semi-mytical animal from the Amazon jungle, is my new chopper/camp knive. It differs considerabli from my latest camp knives as it has a guard and ricasso for those who like it and also due to its blade shape, that concentrates a lot of weight at the tip, increasing its chopping power. To swing it is a bit like swinging a khukuri.
It has a 1/4" thick, 9 7/8" long 5160 steel blade that was sellectivelly heat treated for me by Sr. Bíde, a local blacksmith taht is almost 80 years old, and knows very, very well how to play with steel. The temper line can not be seen in the pic but it is very clear, even with the satin finish.
The handle is cord wrapped with black paracord and painted black underneath to inhibit rust and it comes with a black leather sheath.
US$ 245,00, plus US$ 20,00 for Priority Shipping. Paypal wellcome but other payment methods also possible.
