Here is one I made for a customer. I figured I'd show it off here as this is the group that would most appreciate this type of blade.

1/8" D2 with a full flat grind
stabilized birdseye maple with black liner
mosaic pins

I haven't used maple before but I really liked working with it.

Thanks for looking and criticisms are always welcome.

It has a nice edge on it too. I have difficulty showing how well it cuts but here it is skiving a piece of very thin leather. Those are just pieces of the flesh side of the leather on the blade....not rust.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats a nice rendition.

Nice work. I really like how light the Maple looks. The sheath his just as nice - I love the simplistic design of a basic pouch sheath.

Thanks for the comments guys. I may have to make more of these in the future.

Langston, send me a PM or an e-mail about that AOW. I'll check to see what we have in inventory.

Very nice! I like a little more "butt" in the butt, a little wider at the end, but still, very nice! Is D2 the only steel you use, or are there others?

Sodak, I have only used D2, ATS34, 154CM, or 440C so far. I can heat treat those and like the results I have gotten. I haven't worked with many other steels yet. I have played around with L6 and have had good results but would like to make a few more before I offer any of those up for sale just to make sure my heat treat is where I want it. I have also made a few smaller damascus blades that have turned out okay too.

Eventually I'd like to get into some more of the oil hardening steels but I'm just not set up for it right now. I have had to force myself to take things a bit slower than I'd like just to make sure I'm doing things well before moving on to something new. I have a tendency to want to do too many things without learning the basics as well as I should.

Thanks again for the compliments. Coming from a group of guys that actually use their knives it means a lot.

Thanks,
