Marbles American Hickory Axes

I was just perusing the SMKW catalog I received in the mail yesterday and stumbled across these axes! They have four sizes and the total cost for all four would be under $88! They are made in El Salvador, but so are Condor’s cutlery and Marble’s machetes and I hear good things about those. The axes are made from 1045 high carbon.


So do you have any experience with them? Have you seen any reports about them, good or bad?

They're made by Imacasa/Condor. Expect thick factory edges, but the steel and heat treatment should be fine.

The axes are made from 1045 high carbon.

That might be what the catalog says but 1045 is actually a medium carbon steel. But you could make a fine axe with it if the heat treat was done well.

They are fine! But not perfect

 

[Hickory n steel]

Have a couple of the machetes and a little double bit hatchet. All great tools in my experience.
The rest of the axes and hatchets I find a bit ugly, but if you don't I say go for one.
