Marbles bolo sheath

I got the factory sheath for my Marbles bolo (14 in.) -- THIS MODEL -- but the sheath was stitched. After sharpening the back edge of the blade, I severed the stitching in the sheath. I didn't love it anyway... the machete fit in it, but the handle rested partly inside of the sheath. Plus with that sharp back, it really needed something less susceptible to cutting.

Anyone have any recommendations? It's not my favorite machete, but it's not BAD. That said, without a sheath, it is only a yard tool to me since I can't backpack or kayak with it. I know how to sew, but my machine won't open up wide enough to accommodate that thick nylon edge of the sheath, so I can't really repair it, plus, as stated, it's a bad design anyway and the same thing will happen again unless I flatten out that back edge.

Thanks for your help.
