It's almost the middle of March. No stealth run, no SFO, no BOTM announcement, 2023 products not yet fully on web-site, no St. Patrick's day sale announcement. What will give first? Personally my bank account appreciates the rest.

Oh, and on a side note .. On Instagram, Buck is featuring the Buck Custom Bowie. Pretty pricey. But main thing that made me not buy is the complaints that the handle is too small. Is it really that bad?

If it’s a 117, I hope it’s anything but the stacked leather version. I like stacked leather in general, but I’ve never liked Buck’s stacked leather.

Plus, I already have the stacked-leather version. I wouldn't mind a 117 being added to the Heritage - Cocobolo line, to match the others in that set. They should add a 118 and 124 to that set too.

Plus 1 for the 124 in cocobolo. I am holding off buying to buying a 124 until they offer it in some type of wood besides its current black micarta.
I couldn't resist so I have the black Micarta and the ebony Crelicam versions. Buck had a closeout at the end of last year for the ebony one. In my opinion, it is better than the 916 custom Bowie. No one is complaining about the handle being too small on the Frontiersman. For one thing, the Frontiersman wouldn't stand for that kind of sass talk.

I wish they would at least put a picture of the 2023 limited edition knives on the site with a "out of stock" or "available soon" label. Seems silly to still have the 2022 editions up with the "no longer available" tag underneath. Like you said...it's almost the end of the first quarter of 2023.

This would be a dandy BOM. Better yet a permanent offering.

Here is some photos for your viewing. I will assume as you are talking about a small handle on a custom Buck Bowie, that you are talking about the 916 Bowie.

Just so you know I have small hands look at my fingers next to the handle.

The price stopped me from ordering the 916 Bowie, rumors of its small handle made me not want it anymore. But it is gorgeous! Thanks for the great pictures.

I wonder if it was done on purpose to make the blade seem bigger. Comparing it to the 124 is not fair, the 124 handle is quite large.

i asked while back and here's the answer....from Jeff H below cut and pasted.....

and the whole thread if interested.....

"This is what I got from our Special Projects Manager

"The knife was designed as replica of the original Bowie. I teamed it up the model 94 Winchester 30/30 for a 100 year anniversary. It just so happened that the Geronimo dagger we were doing had the same handle design as the Bowie. All I needed to do was change the front configuration of the blade. The guard also matched the Bowie I was replicating. Hope that helps."

March and April are going to busy.
The 916 was meant as a replica as stated above and back then the handle was quite a bit smaller.
