March Special

Ever since I checked the USPS website this morning and it showed that it had arrived at the local PO, I've been fretting about what would be in the mailbox this afternoon, the knife or a little green slip saying come by the PO. Fortunately, it was the knife. As dipbait said, the contouring of the handle feels great in the hand. I thought I had read that John wouldn't be including a tin knife with the monthly specials since the price had already been reduced, but to my surprise one was included in the package.

The fit and finish on this knife (the one with black micarta and red liners shown above) is outstanding, especially at John's price point. I think John's JK Handmade Knives are one of the best values on BF. Unfortunately, my indoor pictures don't do it any justice, so I'll wait until I'm able to head outdoors for some working shots. Thanks again John for such a wonderful blade.

Rosewood, walnut, bloodwood, tulipwood, lacewood, tiger stripe maple, oak, purpleheart, zebrawood, and cocobolo. On my website go to photo gallery. There is a section there that shows all the woods, if you click on each picture it will say what it is, I`m sure I forgot some here.

Ok I definitely want to order one of these against my wife's expressed concerns:P When is the last possible date I can order one? Since its a March special, could I order one March 31st?:) (Need to get that refund check).

That would be fine, just email me the details on how you want it (clip point, drop point, handle material, liners or not, pin configuration, lanyard hole, and your name and address) and I`ll send you a price.

The clip pint is sweet.
You know, this would make a nice skeleton handled neck knife with a kydex sheath.

It`s cool you said that, as I`m making one for my daughter like that! Hoping some of her co-workers will see it and order some. I`ll post a pic soon.

Wonderful. Email sent.

These knives have a name yet? Been calling mine the Hornet like in Green Hornet. I had to touch it up on fine ceramic rods, it is now the sharpest knife I own. It doesnt have a polished edge but the ceramic rod put a polished micro bevel on it. I just touch hairs and they lay down.

Never did name it. I usually wait to see if a model is popular enough to add to my line before I give it a name. Unfortunately, this one was not. Let`s see see some pics of it.

The black micarta with thumb grooves is a great little knife. Whoever gets this one is going to be pretty happy.
I did not dig this knife at first, but now I find it was the angle of the photos.

Really, really nice design for a compact field blade.

Well I ordered mine:

- Drop Point
- 1/8" 01
- Tulipwood
- red liners
- Solid Pins
- Lanyard Hole

I'm looking forward to this. Its my first custom and I plan on it being my primary blade when I thru-hike the Cohos Trail (approx. 160 mi) in Upper New Hampshire this summer. If I actually follow through, and am not that tired, you will see a bunch of photos of the knife on the trail:)

So, I hope John makes it nice and sharp!

JC,
If that micarta is yours, can you post a pic of it in the sheath?

I have been thinking a lot about it lately, it migfht make a nice companion to my new ebony handled clip scout.

My order has been placed.....
Exactly the same as the knife in the right in the photo.
Normally, I avoid black micarta like the plague, but this one just looks so freaking nice that I had to order it as is.

John,

About the width of the handle grip, Ive got smaller hands and so if possible don't want the handle to be too thick. Dont know if this is an option, but thought I would mention it anyway.

I`ll go a bit thinner on this one.

I`ll go a bit thinner on this one.

That would be great thanks. Also, if it isnt too late, can I change the blade thickness to 3/32"? That would help reduce thickness as well, and I can live with the reduction on the blade end. So that would make it:

- Drop Point
- 3/32" 01
- Tulipwood (a bit thinner on this one)
- red liners
- Solid Pins
- Lanyard Hole

Thanks again.

Not to mention the weight savings might become important for your trek this summer. :p
