Anyone care to give me an intel dump on Dick's "Field Fighter" as mentioned in Rogue Warrior. I did a search and came up dry.

Nimrod,

The Field Fighter was a Robert K. Spear designed 9 1/2" bladed Bowie with a sharpened false edge and a wide guard that sloped towards the the point to act as a blade catcher. First production run was a disaster with many knives returned. Do not know if they made any additional runs.

It's my understanding that Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works was producing them for Mr. Spear. They may still be able to make you one.

Mike, tknife: Thank you so much for the information. Based upon what you are saying it does not appear as though it would be something I am going to pursue. I do not have any "china case queens" and use (sometimes abuse) everything I have. One would think that Dick would have wanted and could have gotten pretty much the best and thought that was the case here.

In a 9" it's hard to beat the Busse Basic 9 or Chris Reeve Shadow I without going cu$tom. Thanks again for the info and feel free to correct my impression if I'm off base.
