:D:D:D:D I received these pics from Marcus this morning of a Loveless style NYS I commisioned of him a while back, its #5 of 10 that he is making for me in all Bob's style, next one a boot knife. He finished this knife a couple of weeks ago and was sent to Coop to to do his magic on it. I think you will agree both excelled themselves.

Well, I guess I better attach mine to the mix here. Marcus makes quite the beautiful NYS, huh?

Best,

Bob

I like the knives but scratching the shop # on the knife just kills it for me. Why do it?

Bob, I agree Marcus's work is top notch, here's the first four he made for me. Sub hilt, Wilderness, Chute & Drop Point.

Because thats the way I wanted it, if it's good enough for Bob Loveless it's good enough for me, anyway if we all liked the same things it would be a very boring world.

This looks great. My favorite maker for NYS is Steve Gatlin. But this is quite close! Loveless also made this kind of sheath.

Congratulations!

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your knife, I would prefer a serial # or shop # done more like a makers mark. I don't like the way it looks on Loveless knives either and yes you're right it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things.

Does Marcus Lin put a shop # on all his Loveless style knives or was it requested for this piece?

Martin, I think he does, but I'me sure if he was asked to he would leave it off. I just could not buy all the Loveless knives I like, so for me this is the next best thing.

Would a Michael Jackson tribute dancer NOT wear a jeweled glove?

Just sayin..... :p

I've been yearning to see JUST how clean Marcus' knives are. I wasn't disappointed!

Cracking knife Rick.
As are all the others in your Marcus Lin collection...:D
I've got a dropped hunter with stainless fittings and green canvas Micarta by Marcus and his work is flawless. (I was going to post the WIP that he kindly did for me, but I lost all the photos when my PC recently died:mad:)
As for the shop number, I've never really considered it. As Rick says, 'If it's good enough for Bob Loveless, it's good enough for me';) If anything I think it adds something to the knife by giving it an 'identity' if that makes sense.

Oh man i am loving the work Marcus does, thanks for the pics of his work. I need to get one of his pieces real soon.

Beauty. Very nice. Work and Commision. You've got good taste Rick!

Does Markus solder the bolsters and guards?

I know Loveless does but I'm wondering if other makers in his style do, and if it is more desirable, or if a seamless, solderless fit is.

Thanks
