Is it just me, or does the Marfione design bear a more-than-passing resemblance to the ZT0777?

Wow, I wonder if they've liscensed the lockbar from Kershaw? Def a copy cat... I don't think they were part of the original design team

pretty sickening. it looks like microtech has other models that are strikingly similar to other knives. :thumbdn:

I saw these at NYCKS. I thought they looked extremely close to the 0777. I actually asked Mr. Marfione about it and the story I got from him is that they worked with the original designerof the 0777. I just nodded politely and didn't say anything further.
Edit: Here's a picture of the three they had at NYCKS-

He's a lying, scumbag. Read the first post of this thread. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/901807-The-Original-0777

The ZT0777 is an in-house Kai design. Jim MacNair headed the project, and was assisted by the talents of the R&D team surrounding him. We did not work with MT on the design. Never consulted with them. Their "Project X" knife is on them. They opted to create another manufacturer's design. That is their prerogative. It is what it is.

To say the 0777 or the "Project X" came from Dmitry or was inspired by his work as stated on a MT forum would be inaccurate.

I definitely see similarities. Both folders look great. I guess more info will come out.

Funny, if the Chinese were to make a cheap, crappy copy of the 0777, that's exactly what I imagine it would look like. MT lacks the design talent and capability to make a classy design even when they're copying someone else's work.

Sucks that he'll make money off of these no matter what. The real shame is people on other forums stating that they'll gladly buy these even knowing they're blatant theft.

Too bad. Let's hope that people remember that the original design came from Zero Tolerance. I hope their product launch is successful.

Now I think I'll never own a MT knife. I was looking at one of their models, but if they take shortcuts on designs...what else are they taking short cuts on?

OK, I have to say something here. ...I was at the show also and when Tony was asked if this was a collaboration of some sort Tony would reply with an absolute "NO"! ...But Tony did make mention to the Russian maker of the SiDis’s knives.

And here's another little tidbit of truth for you "Droppoint1110". That's "MY" picture that "I" personally took. Yes, I take full responsibility for that crappy pic you jacked! ...Those MT Flippers were beautiful when seen in person.

They have very little resemblance to SiDis's work besides using carbon fiber, attachment of the frame lock, and a pseudo-wharncliffe blade. What it does look like is a carbon copy of a 0777. There was absolutely no collaboration and it was certainly not a homage, Tony infringed upon KAI's intellectual property. Tony was even quoted as saying that he did this to beat Kershaw to the market and make some $$.

If someone want to read about the whole ordeal there is a thread in Kershaw's sub-forum. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/901807-The-Original-0777
