Marines

Semper Fi, brothers!!

Here's an idea: How about if we honor one of the USMC Birthday Ball traditions by honoring the oldest and youngest Marines present?

My b'day: 1974

Good idea -

I'm still somewhere in the middle... BD - Nov 10, 1966

Post 'em Marines, the army will figure out what we're doing sometime later... :D

I know I can't be the oldest- at least I hope not! 19 Sept. '65
Active Duty Marine 1984-1989

Semper Fi Brothers and goodnight Chesty Puller, wherever you are!

I'm 10/8/1963 and my son is 9/29/1985 although his tour is much longer than mine.. got a medical discharge for a blown knee... He's taken over and excelled from where I left off (in 82-out 82):-( .. he just made corporal.. and shot expert for the first time.. I got him his own AR15 when he graduated P.I. and got him a TA31 ACOG, After MP school, just before he deployed... "then the USMC issued him one just like it" He went in 2003 and is still there.. hasnt' deciding if he's re-upping yet.
The Corps has got some of the best gear for our men that I have ever seen. I wish Jerry would make a USMC knife.. with the EGA on it.. Ka-barish to commemorate the Corps in shape, but with a thick INFI blade and canvas Micarta handle.. but make the infi pommel that could be used as a hammer.. all one solid piece of INFI steel.. man what a blade it would be.

Happy birthday to all Marines! I have had the privilege of serving with many fine Marines when I have served overseas.
Thank you for your service.

Great post macksween1.

Also like the INFI Kabar idea.

Cpl, USMC, 1994-1998. Medical discharge for blown shoulder (after 47 months of service). MOS: 0351 & 8152

One of my favorite quotes:

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

Love the Cobras- I spent some time with HMA-369 in Okinawa and Operation Team Spirit '86 in Korea. When those things are coming straight at you, you might as well hang it up 'cause you can't hardly see 'em 'till the gun starts firing!

From the son of a Marine (Sgt John Norwood, 1942-45; detached unit within 1st Marine Amphibious Corps) and father of a Marine (Sgt Byron Norwood, 1998-13 Nov 2004; Weapons Co 3/1 Iraq x 2) - Happy 233rd to the finest organization of its kind in the world. Peace through close combat and superior firepower! Thanks to you other Marines for your service to this country.

Bill

The United States Armed Forces, and I include our United States Coast Guard, have my utmost respect. They are in my thoughts and prayers every day.

May '61 here...surely someone is older.

LOL....good one. For some unknown reason that brought to mind the words of one of my squad leaders. "You can give a Marine a rubber ball and put him in an empty room and he'll be entertained for hours. Eventually he'll break the ball and then swear up and down it was broke when he got it."
