Hey guys, I was inspired by all of the cool Maringer pieces I've seen online lately to try and build my version.
I went old school with flared brass tubes and green micarta scales. The 8.75" blade is of course 3V with my high performance heat treat.
It balances perfectly at the ricasso.
The sheath is a front exit similar to the originals, and can be carried with a shoulder rig or works equally well on the belt.
I have never had the pleasure of holding a Maringer vorpal, so it is kind of cool to get to play with my version of one.

I have been talking with Tom, and with his blessing andinput I am going to be licensing and revising his Vorpal line. He will be sending original templates to me and I am working on getting the shoulder rigs made to his original specs as well. So stay tuned for those, and consider this a 1 of 1 blade from me as start making the Vorpal in the next few months.

OAL - 14.3"
Blade - 8.7" tip to scales
Steel - .290" CPM 3v with proper HT done by myself including LN cryo. My HT benefits not only fine edge stability but also increases corrosion resistance to near stainless levels.
Handle - OD green micarta, flared brass tubes
Sheath - Front exit kydex with Tek lok for belt carry. I hope to have shoulder rigs available in the future and this one will be forward compatible with them.
Price - $800 + $15 sh
Paypal or postal money order preferred

Showing the sheath, it does not include a shoulder harness, but they will be available in the near future.

"The Vorpal Blade went Snicker-Snack!"
Outstanding work! I'd seen a few of the same Maringer Vorpal knives in the Fighter thread, and all due respect to the originator's fine blades, out of the few beautiful examples I've seen, this is my favorite. It looks like it's been forged from The Reaper's Scythe, and It's also inherited a great name. I wish I hadn't of made so many knife purchases in the last month and a half, but this model's a keeper, and I hope it shows up again. Thanks, Wikipedia:

("Vorpal sword" and "Vorpal blade" are phrases used by Lewis Carroll in his nonsense poem "Jabberwocky", which have been taken up in several other media. Nowadays, the term "vorpal", especially when applied to swords, knives, axes or other suitable bladed weapons and implements, means that it is incredibly, almost impossibly, sharp.

Through the Looking-Glass, 1871; Alice discovers and reads the poem "Jabberwocky":

"One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.")
