Alright...
This one could be a little interesting...
I certainly hope so, I didn't withstand a manic spell, too much caffeine, and a lack o' sleep to craft this fiendish thing, just to see it go off without some excitement.
We will have a few moving parts.... A couple different ways to win this...
And, more than one prize.... That's right, multiple prizes....
In celebration of the release of my Nordic Concealex Sheaths for Moras (and the like).
Full details at http://marioncarry.blogspot.com/.
I will be giving away three (3) of them. The sheaths will be for a Mora Clipper, Mora 510, Mora 2000, Kellam S-Line or Marttini M571, winner's choice. Or the winner can wait, and I will have some other ones, on hand, right quick. Note, the winner may choose to assign his prize to someone else. While I cannot imagine a situation where this would be necessary, I want to encourage people to play.
What do you have to do to win one?
Let me tell you....
The theme of the give-away/contest is...
"Innovative and Effective Carry of Nordic Concealex Sheaths in the Outdoors utilizing ParaCord".
What we are looking for are innovative and effective ways, using paracord, to attach or carry a Concealex Sheath, like seen here...
But, because I want to see people stretch a bit....
There is a "Put Up or Shut Up" component to the contest....
Since there are a couple different ways to present your ParaCord Magic....
One (1) Sheath will be given away to the best solution or presentation of a solution by Video. aka There has to be a solution presented by Video.
One (1) Sheath will be given away to the best solution or presentation of a solution by Text and Image. aka There has to be a solution presented by Text and Image.
One (1) Sheath will be given away to the best solution or presentation of a solution by Text and/or Drawing and/or Effective Use of the Internet..... aka There has to be a solution presented by Text and/or Drawing and/or Effective Use of the Internet.
(This last category is to keep the technologically challenged in the game. Don't look at me that way, you know who you are....) But, if the Luddites don't want to play, I will give it away to someone without regard for any rules.... Like the lamest post complaining about "how their camera is broke and they can't figure out how this giveaway slash contest works anyway". Or the funniest joke. I don't know. But, I am definitely giving away three (3) sheaths.
Note- This since this is an outdoor forum, an honest effort must be made to demonstrate these ideas with an emphasis of outdoor carry and use.
Note - If you live in some deficient place where the miracle cord known as paracord is not available, a substitute [while obviously vastly inferior : ) ] will be acceptable. This 'exception' would also allow other cord to be used for demonstration, if germane. And, imaginary and non-existent extra credit points are available for the use of brightly coloured cord or handmade natural fiber cord in your entry.
Also Note - If you do not have a fine Concealex or Kydex sheath like the ones I have shown, to be used as an example, you should get one, but until then, and the for the purposes of this contest, you may carve a facsimile of a sheath, with holes, so that the cord may be attached, and the concepts that you will expound upon will be clear. And, imaginary and non-existent extra credit points are available for carvings, paintings or similar demonstrations of exceptional skill.
Further Note - If Video is your chosen medium, it will have to be hosted so as to be commonly available on the web, like at YouTube.
You can put up as many entries as you like, and in different categories, and that is encouraged, but a person may only win once.
Everyone is invited to play, and anyone could win, if they can meet the challenge.
New Kids (but not Markie), Old Hands, Ladies with the Skills, Guys who just showed up from another forum for this challenge...
It is wide open...... Anything could happen...
Because, the purpose of this, among other purposes, is to promote all the ways you can use cordage to carry a sheathed knife.
You see, in another thread.... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=705028, I realized that some who have been around the knife web awhile, have found some dead simple ways to carry a knife with paracord, and those methods should be common knowledge. And, hopefully this contest/give-away will help make those methods more common and accessible.
You have 2 weeks to put your entries together. But, in the spirit of sharing this knowledge, no one will be penalized for finishing and submitting their entries earlier.
The format, in order to promote the ideas being presented...
I ask that you start a new thread with your entry, explain the purpose of your presentation, and link back to this thread. Then post a link in this thread, pointing to your entry.
Or, for those entering video, those who blog, or post to an on-line magazine to make your entry, you will follow this format. You do not have to mention this contest in your video, blog entry or article, simply start a new thread stating that you have made your entry, point to it with a link, point to this contest with a link, and post in this thread, with a link to your entry and the new thread.
Also, since Joe and Kevin, or even Rick know a thing or two about this.... I encourage them to play and show us how this sort of thing is done. And, if they get serious with their entries, I will work with them to find a suitable prize (in the range of the value represented by the offered prize) AKA, this is a fourth category, so that the entries of knifemakers and mods won't compete for the other prizes. Kevin, I am looking for you on this one.... I saw something over at EDC Forums....
Finally, I am not trying to promote one carry method over another, so no penalty will be attached to presentations that include and reference the belt attachments and other methods of carry that are commonly available. But, the main of the presentation, to qualify as an entry, will need to be about carry with paracord.
Final decisions will be made by me, with all due consideration that I might be tar and feathered, if I don't do what you want... I am not stupid, slow sometimes, but not stupid. Or as my friend says, Some Dumb, not Plum Dumb.
So, brew some caffeine or pour some kidney killer...
Break out your knot books, and get knotty...
Peek at your friend's answer sheet...
Let's rumble....
Marion
PS - If there is a good response to this. I have some ideas for further competitions....
