Just wanted to give a shout out to Mark at Burl Source for another pleasant deal. He is very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable, and the wood is always in perfect condition. I got a couple pieces of amboyna burl from him on my first transaction, while I also got another piece from USA Knifemaker. Both pieces I got from Mark were completely flawless, and really made my blades look great.
The three things that make Mark's service/shop really stand out are that 1, you can see exactly the piece of wood you will be getting; 2, he will cut the wood into oftentimes bookmatched scales for you free of charge, and; 3, all-around good customer service, from friendly service, to prompt shipping, to flawless product. Oh, and his pricing is very competitive, especially with his sales and loyalty discounts.
The one issue I have is that I don't use Paypal, and so it is seemingly difficult to just pay with a credit or debit card. Not to worry! On my most recent transaction, I just placed my order and entered in "pay with check/money order." Then I called Mark up and he just took my card over the phone. He was great to talk to, and let me know that if I need anything special, I can just call him up. He's prompt to respond if you have to leave a message too. I will be doing all of my specialty wood orders through Burl Source for the foreseeable future.
