Let me describe what happened:
On July 9 I placed an order for a couple knives and accessory via the MJ&S website.
July 17, my credit card was charged.
Early August I began contacting Mark via email to find out what had happened to my order as it had not yet arrived.
August 15th, I received an email from Mark indicating he wasn't sure what happened and would be resending my order.
Possibly coincidentally, the day before would have been the last day I could have disputed the charge for this order with my credit card company. In retrospect I should have disputed this transaction before this date, but given MJ&S Knives reputation for being a good dealer, and the fact that a number of fellow Canadians had spoken well of MJ&S Knives, decided to let things ride. Around this time and influencing my decision also, was mention of this being a difficult time personally for Mark.
September 4, still no order and I sent an email to Mark indicating that I had still not received anything and would be setting September 11 as the date by which I would be winding up this situation.
September 11 - My order had not shown up.
I have attempted to email Mark without success at various email addresses associated with him and MJ&S Knives. I have only received the one reply in August from him.
Telephoning MJ&S Knives at the 1-800-434-5073 resulted in a notification that this number was no longer in service.
Telephoning the Information line for MJ&S Knives at 1-740-474-6512 resulted in a good phone line , but no one picking up the phone at the other end or even an answering machine.
At this point, I am giving up on MJ&S Knives as a good dealer. I believe that I have given Mark and MJ&S Knives considerable benefit of doubt and time to make good on this transaction. Certainly, Mark and MJ&S Knives may have had numerous good transactions with BladeForum members in the past, but the cliche that a dealer is only as good as his/her last transaction would seem to be apt in this situation.
My recommendation at this time is to stay away from dealing with Mark of MJ&S Knives as this deal was no joy for me(my first sour dealing on BladeForums)
If Mark would care to comment, I invite him to do so. I believe I have been more than reasonable and patient under the circumstances.
