This is really a photo review as I have only used it a little... I am quite impressed with Mr. Terrell. I had never held one of his knives, but I'm sure this won't be the last. Amazing! Titanium Frame lock, with Genuine Gibeon Meteorite pivot ring, carbon fiber inserts, S30V blade, and orange peal aluminum spacer (which matches the meteorite accent in tone). The titanium handle is also orange peal. The knife has an overall rustic appearance, but his attention to detail and symetry is incredible. The blade is virtually perfect. Action is perfect. I believe this is #1 in a run of 10 not including the prototype. With the meteorite it is a one of a kind. Let me know what you think.

Beautiful knife and you are correct, it is a "one of a kind" and #1 in the series. Congratulations on your score!!

If you are happy, that is all that matters!

I may be imagining things, but that sounds like a loaded response? this is true, however, as long as I don't have a coyote when I think I have a collie.

It is an attempt at validating your joy with your purchase, without imparting any of my own commentary which might counterbalance your joy.

loaded, and you won't counterbalance my joy ;) This is one of hundreds of knives I've owned. Please share

STeven actually gave me the option to share his comments, and again, I don't have a problem with it. That's why we are here (his comments follow):

The Terrell knife....

1. Hope it wasn't expensive(over $400.00)

2. The design does nothing for me, and just because it has a wafer of
meteorite does not make it anything special....and he certainly should have
put it on both sides of the frame...that just seems cheesy that he didn't.

3. The CF inlays do nothing for the frame to me, and looks like a bite on
what Snody does, shape wise.

4. The finish on the blade does not match the finish on the handle, making
the blade look shorter.

Like I said before...if you are happy with it, that is what matters.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

It is all a matter of personal preference and values.
What looks "cheesy" to one person, may look classy to another.

Either way, a nice knife. Enjoy :)

I really like the knife a lot. It has a great feel in the hand and great action. I respect the opinion, although the only thing I didn't understand was the blade to handle finish issue. It got me to thinking... I've owned a lot of customs. One of which was a Bogi Cobra with orange peel handle and satin blade. I thought that looked great. Plus I'm not sure i've had many knives at all with matching blade and handle finishes... aside from bead blasted. And that would really limit options, especially if you admire a good grind. As for the meteorite, I'm a little biased on that since I would have thought that was cool even if he had hammered it on with a rusty nail ;) I do like it as an accent, and I thought it was ok to have it one one side.

To answer those bulleted points....

1. It was over 400$. My work is worth that much, and if you knew the amount of time I put into each knife you wouldn't have to make a price comment. Oh, why do you even have an opinion about the $ involved since you weren't the one who made the purchase?

2. Meteorite doesn't do anything for you, fine, I get that, no big deal. However, if you knew as much as you act like you do, you'd realize why it's only on one side. Meteorite isn't as consistent or stable as Ti or steels. As it is now, it's on the non load bearing side (meaning, the side that the screw isn't on). That's important because if I put it on both sides, it would weaken the frame at the pivot point by compromising the load bearing side.

3. The CF does nothing for you, big deal, but saying it looks like I knocked off Snody.... Are you f'n kidding me? First off, the circle is the most naturally prominent shape, so who should I pay homage to for that? Furthermore, I know Snody, he's seen the knife and has zero problems with it. Even furthermore, you contradicted yourself to start by saying it looked like what Snody did. His were cutouts/scallops, these are inserts. To ease that for you, one has something placed into it, one has something taken out of it.

4. I can hardly even address this it's such an asinine statement. So I should've orange peeled the blade is what you are getting at??????? Or maybe I should've satin finished the handles....... thus making them less durable???? The finish on the blade is a work finish that I've developed, and it has 600 grit satin base. It's very clean, and I'd suspect that the flash might be what made it look grainy....

Listen, I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, that's what makes the world great. However, if someone is going to go out of their way to be rude, or send someone disparaging comments about something they just bought and enjoy, that's a problem.

If you've got a problem with me or my work, address it to me, not my customers. I can live with criticism as long as it's founded and constructive. But, "I don't like it", or "it does nothing for me" isn't constructive. How, in any way, are you contributing in a positive manner to the knife industry by causing a customer grief for a new purchase they are happy to have???? It just seems to be all in bad taste to me and in very poor form....

By the way... the knife is getting used, and I LOVE it (it has a good home). I love it's functionality, and I love it's design. In my book, that's the highest praise I have. The negative comments didn't thwart that. I dug for his opinion because his first post was heavily loaded. I thought he might have had something constructive that I should know about the knife. All of what he offered was subjective, or jaded by some other issue (in my opinion).

Regardless, MT still has a great new customer!

OregonEdge,

If you are going to the OKCA show, I'll be there on Friday afternoon, and Saturday...bring it, and let me see what I think in person.

I don't have "some other issue", so you can pack that one back where it came from. You started off the post with "Let me know what you think"....and are now accusing me of having some agenda?.....WTF, over?

If you aren't going, why not?

points taken.

I'm hoping to go. Strange but true, I've never been to the show. I have a 4 year old that made his appearance about the same time I got into this hobby (seriously). He and my family always seem to trump driving down to Eugene for one reason or another.

I have a few friends that go and scope out treasures for me. They are apalled as well that I have not gone. The Kershaw sale was new for me this last year as well.

Guess we'll see :)

Mark in my humble opinion is one of the up and comers in the custom knife biz I will post a pic hopefully today of the knife I got from mark this last week...

I think that the signs of a tremendous knife maker are the following..

1. Wide use of design
2. Wide use of steels
3. wide use of materials
4. even and consistant grinds

very short quick definition but you get the idea. Mark seems to not only develop very cool designs but often he improves on the original model!
