I wanted to let members know about a transaction I have with Mark that is going sideways. Earlier in the year I chatted with Mark about a matched pair of folders. We agreed on models, materials, finishes and the time frame was open ended. A few months later Mark sent an email saying the knives were almost complete, asked that I send the payment for his work and it went the following week. After a month I had not received the knives. I emailed Mark asking if he had shipped the knives yet to make sure they weren't lost in the mail. He apologized but thought he had sent an email letting me know there were issues with the damascus used for the blades and he needed to redo them. Okay, no problem. After a couple of months still no knives or communication from Mark. In the mean time his forum was closed on a different knife board. He still hasn't answered email or returned a phone call.
I understand that life can be challenging and there are many thing more important that building knives. Those things can be addressed with simple communication and Mark hasn't done that to date. Honestly I don't think I'll see knives or my money but I hope I'm wrong.
On Marks website it's stated that his order book is open. Just be careful if you place an order with him.
