Here's my technique for etching my logo.

Thanks for the video. I've never pre-soaked my stencils, and I've never sprayed Windex on the blades before the etch. I'll have to give that a try.

Brian,

Thanks, learned a few new things from your post.

Common, that's too easy... Like Sam asked, was that AC only? Do you use felt for your pad?

Yeah guys, AC only.

I don't coat my blades, so the .003 or so depth that I get is plenty enough for me.

That etcher was built with a 16v Transformer instead of the standard 12.6v Radio Shack trans.

Stencils are the gold ones from TUS.

You have to request the gold, or else you will get brown.

The gold is WAY more user friendly, as you can see through it.

I even bought the felt from TUS, as I could not find any locally that worked as well.

Thanks for the video Fellhoelter. The windex trick is awesome and has eliminated any "ghosting" I used to get. That and swiping with the felt instead of holding it over the stencil are the key to getting awesome etches. I have etched all my wife's butter knives:D and every one of them turned out great. On a side note I am using the etcher design from Chris Crawford's website (wired as 12volt) and the homemade etching solution from Earnie's website. Great stuff!
