How has your Marksman been holding up in the long run? I'm considering getting either the tanto or the drop point 154cm and I'm wondering how the bearings and lock bar have been. Do you need to adjust the locking system often? Has it developed any blade play, and is it a pocket destroyer with the hard cut aluminum handle? I like the idea and the looks of both knives. Also has anybody taken a dremel to the strong lock system to make the thumb ramp a little more narrow? What is the likelihood that buck would sell the lockbar from the 829 Legacy version?

Side-note, I wasn't serious about my last post. I'd like to pretend that we're all in the barbershop of knives.

my two regular one and skblade one.... have been good. no adjustments needed to tbe lockbar position. no blade play in any direction. bearings seem fine. i haven't taken apart the knives to see wear and tear. pocket wears been fine with clip carry. nothing worse than any aluminum or smoother g10 scaled knife.

Mine has become my work knife. I've cut everything with it, drywall, concrete board, insulation, wood, boxes, etc... My day job is driving a desk, so my Marksman doesn't have a full-time job. I've not made any adjustments since I set it up. Bearings are still smooth as butter and I don't recall ever hosing the thing out or oiling it.

Looks like it'll be my first folding knife that I can actually operate fully with my dominate left hand. I better get the band-aids ready.

Can’t say I’ve put it through it’s paces because I just got it back from Josh at REK for a regrind. I didn’t like the tip of the original grind, but now it’s perfect. The pivot did seem to loosen a bit, but a little blue locktite fixed it right up. No issues with the lock bar for me. The flipping and closing action are fantastic. It’s a hell of a fidget knife, but I don’t get the feeling that that is what you care about.

I really enjoy my Marksman, though I'll admit that I think its not the sharpest of knives out of the box and I need to spend some time working on it.
But, it has the potential to compete with the PM2 for a lot of reasons... I hope Buck puts some thought into better scale options and other steels in the future.

I've flipped mine for thousands and thousands of miles covering the Pacific northwest in the car. One if the best knives Buck makes for the money.

Yeah its going to be a fidget knife lol, next to my Vantage and Momentum. Trying to play it safe and get one within Canada before stock runs out and having to worry about getting one through customs from the U.S.

How do you find the blade retention closed in the handle? I handled a Marksman years ago and it didn't feel secure when closed. I wondered if the lock strap needed adjustment. I'm thinking that I might, uh, need this knife pretty soon.

I can flip it open without the flipper tab. It’s not like it’s going to open on your pocket but you can def use centrifugal force alone to open it

There's no detent holding the blade closed. The strap-lock holds it in the closed position. You can tune it so that the strap holds it closed tighter, but it will take more force to engage the lock when flipping it. There's a sweet spot where it holds it snug enough closed but doesn't take a mountain of force to get it to engage the lock. It's really a terrific design.

ABS-Plastic 3D printed (not suitable for use, but used for design)

Mind sharing what all you had done and the cost?
Looking at their pricing list, seems things add up really quickly.
I'd love to buy an operator, but probably not if the cost is going to double to get it where it needs to be...
