Marksman Owners

With apologies to the OP, I have another question for Marksman owners:

Does that jimped lockbar irritate your hand in prolonged use? It seems so wide that it would cause discomfort.

Literally the only tanto knife I have ever had a desire to purchase.

A little, but only mostly because there is a tendency to fidget with this knife a lot.
Like I said, there is something about this knife that equates a whole lot to a PM2.
The fun factor is high.
EDIT: The bar is no problem while using the knife, but if you are figeting with it, it does wear on my thumb from the opening/closing action.

no. not at all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that fidgets with the knife. :p It is rather addictive opening it with the flipper. It always makes such a satisfying click when you open it. I haven't used mine much, as I don't use knives a whole lot, other than kitchen knives. I don't find the lock bar irritating in any way. Mine came extremely sharp. The whole thing fits my hand like a glove. It is so comfortable to hold while it's open. So far I've never had it open on me when I had it in my pocket. One thing I might recommend since I went through it, is if you have to take the screws out of the strap lock to adjust it, maybe try warming them up with a hair dryer or something. Mine had a lot of blue Loctite on it from the factory and one of my screws stripped. Buck was awesome and sent me two new screws along with the Allen wrenches to adjust it. I've put them back in with a real tiny amount of blue Loctite. After opening and closing it many times, it still locks up tight as can be.

Exactly.
Ball bearings are extremely smooth

Mind sharing what all you had done and the cost?
Looking at their pricing list, seems things add up really quickly.
I'd love to buy an operator, but probably not if the cost is going to double to get it where it needs to be...

I had it reground (60 grit) to .01 behind the edge. The original grind has very little (if any) distal taper toward the tip so you’ll see a constant blade thickness at the spine almost the entire length of the blade (no pointy goodness). It was a little less than $100 so I get what you’re saying about the cost, but I liked everything else about the design so I went for it. The materials are good, it’s inovative, but simple, and it feels good in hand. Oh, and did I mention, it’s fun to play with. The regrind really put it toward the top of my rotation and it has some stiff competition.

The lock bar does look like it would be a nuisance, but it’s really not. I personally don’t get any hot spots from the lock bar.

I couldn't decide on which one I wanted, so I bought both.
