I finally decided to hard use my marksman

I started out with spine whacks to make sure it was safe just did small amount about 30 of them started soft then moved to very hard no issues

Then moved to wood I batoned through 2 2 x 8x4ft I think Douglasfir lots of Knotts made them in to half inch pices

then batoned the wood on its side in a V cut still no problem

Then I stabbed same wood my guess about 100 time and pry on tip a lil bit still no problem

The only thing That made the lock fail is when I set the knife on the table with the blade hanging off and hold on the rear of the knife and beat the front of it after a few the lock will fail but I put my hand on front of the handle so I'm pushing on the strap it will not

So if the knife is in the hand it pretty much a fixed blade

Sounds like it held up pretty well. Only question I have is did you cut anything with it?

Sounds like it's plenty strong enough. I would always try to avoid things like that, but it's always nice to know what the knife is capable of.

Personal opinion post:

Everyone is entitled to their own ideas and opinions and the forum works hard at making that possible. I would say to ZTD that a better title might lessen some folks shock of the reading of his posting. How about - "Marksman passes my heavy stress test." Then people would know from the beginning you were 'stress testing' the knife. This type of testing is common in other forums but is not often seen in the Buck Forum. It is a allowed post but some warning to readers is always a benefit to reduce shock of unusual, at least to this forum, methods. We are just getting use to the use of 'batoning' as a test with evaluations of the newer survival style Buck models. I have to admit that most of my life 'batoning' was something that occurred at half time at the local football game. 300

Thank you its a better name anyway

The main reason why I did this it because I had the lock fail a while ago and I have been I lil weary of useing it

So I to decided to do this test to cure my "wearyness" I did batoning because it the hardest thing on a lock and the knife overall that I know of so if can take that it can take cutting zip ties cardboard and all the other thing I do with it

Hopefully this is used as what this knife can take and not as stupid things you can do with it

Oh, and because I forgot to mention it my first post, thank you for taking the time to do it and posting about the results.

No problem I wish someone did this when I was first looking to buy one

Ps everything I right is on a phone so sorry if its spelled wrong lol

with all due respect, stress tests should only be done on the users own head. guaranteed to pass every time and to prove how pointless the type of test really is, with all due respect.

I always appreciate lock strength tests. However, this is not the way to actually use a knife. It is abuse, no doubt about it. But it is nice to see how strong the knife is.

For those who are being critical; it's his knife, if he wants or feels like he needs to beat the hell out of what does it matter to you?

@ZTD Where are the pics?

Seriously though, I can appreciate someone "testing" a lock style that is new and had failed in the past. Do any of you take a gun right out the box and go hunting with it or holster it and hope it works when you need it to??

ZTD, thanks for beating the crap out of your Marksman and reporting here for those of us who pocket one every day.

Why do people dis people's knife testing? I've done it too. If we want to beat the crap out of our own knives to see how tough they are and share the knowledge, then others should be thankful to know these things, and be happy with their own, not beat up knives - simple. Seriously.

IMHO when you post something for public consumption you should expect both positive and negative responses. Seems like commons sense that not everyone sees the same value in a test like this so if the results of this thread are unsatisfactory I guess a person could post and then lock the thread so no comments, pro or con can be made. Not much of a "discussion" but it would avoid hurt feelings.

Ummm...non sequitur?
