In a free society descent is part of the game. How that descent is handled is what makes us a union of people of a free society. The one person one vote moniker. However, decent and civil descent will be required on the Buck forum an really is best in all manners of life. This appears contrary to the times. This thread has been Ok, but as some of you know other BF forums are filled with unabashed low thinking verbal trash talk and crude actions. I thank you all for upholding to a decent standard. Posts exploring new areas of knife ownership always stir up the dust.
Personal opinion. In the past a knife was a tool, a valuable tool. One used in everyday life, both rural and town, cherished in its possession. With the advent of modern electronics and a changing society lots people learned of knives by viewing movies, extreme videos and U-Tube postings, rather than from our scout masters, family elders and actual role models we lived around. In 2006 our country , for the first time, had more people living in the big cities than lived in the country side. With folks taking their cues from the video screens and monitors the care of knives that some learned from those veteran role models are pushed to the limit of what they consider decent care.
But, we must tolerate those who feel it important to test those knives in their manner, rather than just understand knives from outdoor or job related experiences. The era where we heard stories of how valuable a pocket knife was to open C-rations in a muddy foxhole is just about over, and Rambo and others are now the models folks have in their heads as knife users and many times as owners.
I will defend the ability of anyone to test a Buck knife to its limits and report their findings here for all to see. But, I hope folks in future tests realize ,as it appears ZTD does, there is a difference in actual testing with purpose and just show-off knife destruction. 300
