Marlin 1894 (in .44 magnum)

Salut Louky!
a Marlin in 44 mag is a wise choice in France, it's classed in catégory 5 (yet)and it's quiet easy to find ammo for this one! I don't know if it will be well accepted for hunting in France ( hunters are quiet conservative here) but it's a great carabine! Mine is loaded with 44 special silvertip for " home defense", and for wild pigs the 300 grs cast bullet (helmeir Keith type) from Federal is just great! The 44 mag offer plenty of possibilities for almost every uses!
Hurry to buy it cause in France they speak to class it in Category 4, wich mean you'll have to get a firearm autorization trough a shooting club ,wait 6 month of membership and all the paperwork, just for the pleasure of own one!

I have a 44mag h&r that is just about the best rifle for close work that I have here on anything like a pack of wild dogs in with the cows or other large varmits around here.I will not put down livestock to bucher anymore because the last two 300 ibs hogs that I shot in the head the 240 gr hollow points went from the head all the way to the base of the tail and they would not bleed, their hearts blew up from a head shot. The other day my brother had his ak47 out and my cousin had his ar15 and we got the idea to see what would happen to the old house we have here the 44 mag went all the way threw the house includeing oak 4 by 8's and all and the other stopped in the first wall

My wife has a .44 Marlin lever. It is a good gun! The only thing I have found is some of the soft tip SWC ammo has a tendency to jam. When it hits the ramp it won't go up.

We have found that the best ammo is a fully jacketed hollow point. I can't remember the brand right off, Remington?? I'm not sure.
