Marry a good woman and the rest will work itself out.

My wife used to surprise me with knives. I have maybe 7 or 8 that are gifts from her. One time I took a drive down to Grand Prairie Knives with a friend and left my wife at home. When I got there the clerk handed me a bag containing a Case Peanut in Bermuda Green and said "I believe this belongs to you. Nice shirt, by the way".

My wife had placed the order over the phone while I was driving down there and she described my t-shirt to the guy so he would know who to give it to. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. :D

She doesn't buy me knives anymore because we agreed not to do things like that as often in an effort to cut down on unnecessary expenses. It was fun while it lasted though.

Wife and I celebrated 19 years this month. No gifts exchanged, but we did have a nice dinner out. Been together a total of 24 years, she gets that I like knives - even (pretends to?) listens as I extol the virtues of the next new knife. Of course she does like to poke fun of the whole obsession every so often by asking "So how is this one different from all those others?". She does like quality knives, but once she fills the need she sticks with that knife till the end.

Last knife she bought me was for Christmas 2014. It was a GEC French Kate and a tongue-in-cheek reference to "A Christmas Story".
