Does anyone have one of these in hand yet? I ordered one last weekend. Should be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

For those unaware, this is the slipjoint collab project between White River and Smith and Sons.

The only media I can find about this knife has been released by Smith and Sons and I’d love to see some photos that don’t have forced perspective or editing. The knife looks brilliant.

I just looked it up on their site. Looks good and useful. Pricing is steep, but likely fair in this day and age. It's on my radar now, but still a ways off.

Yeah, I sold a few knives that have been sitting in order to afford it. Looking at some of the other Chinese-made high end slipjoints selling for north of $300, I thought it was reasonable considering Smith and Sons/White River quality and handcrafting.

I spend money for things made in many places round the World and one of my favorites is in Canada. That said, If I can steer some of that home, I will. I am sick to death of people trying to make me feel bad about that.

This part from the ad copy on the Smith and Sons site is encouraging. "It’s truly an honor to work with them, not only for their expertise but also because they had enough faith in this design to make it part of their line as the Trailhead Trapper (coming soon)."

So White River will also have their own version(s)!

Yeah, I couldn’t wait. Plus I love the tang stamps on this one and I’m not sure it will carry over that same charisma to White River. I love White River, don’t get me wrong, but Smith and Sons has a lot of character.

I looked into them a bit because they look nice and they are USA made. Someone who bought one sent me a video of theirs and they are a nice firm pull and snappy. I kinda wish I had bought the copper one I was eyeing, but at that time I couldn’t figure out what the action was like.

It's got an interesting looking swoopy blade but I think the long pull is a bit off, would be better to use a nail nick towards the tip like on French knives (both aesthetically & in terms of opening) Expensive for what it is in my view.

I just looked the knife up on there website, I like the looks of it alot , great on them for making a modern traditional in the USA for a good price compared to other who have do so in other countries.

I agree. My eye went first to the long pull that seems out of place on this blade. As to the price, S35VN is much more difficult to process versus cheap, low hardness, low carbide 1095. The real question is why some charge so much for 1095.

SharpBits SharpBits Point taken, I wasn't thinking about the steel but you are right.

You'll get a lot of people round this forum moaning and tut-tutting about any 'Traditional' knife that isn't 1095 or similar carbon ;):D " I'd go for it ,if only it were carbon!"🤣 Me, I like a variety in steels and have enough carbon ones to make a big footprint;)

Look forward to seeing some in hand pics. of this new knife.

Thanks, Will

Mine should be here tomorrow, so I’ll be posting some when I can. Shipping speeds have seemed to slow immensely recently.
