Sal..gee with Jim, Edward, me, maybe Janich, and of course several of the existing knife designs you already have in production, I'd say SPYDERCO was well on the way to having its own MARTIAL ARTS section of knife design...Edged tools that can actually aid in close empty hand self defense if needed.
I am impressed!
I bet there are many on the forums that want SPYDERCO to keep marching forward in that direction..maybe we should tell the martial arts world in general..LOL!

Bram,

You forgot Massad Ayoob. He has a prototype Spydie knife already that may become a production knife some day.

All my Spyderco knives are sharp edged tools. I don't know anything about martial arts weapons.

Personally, I really like Sal's in house design -- Martial Blade Craft Folder (MBCF). I am waiting for that along with an in-house designed lock to replace the RL, since that deal is dead.

The world may fall apart in Y2K, but Spyderco will have some great knives coming out...

Hmmm... where does one get so much info on in house/ prototype models like the ones discussed? Have I missed them in past posts?

PS- yes Jim.

Bram - the plan is a separate LEO/Martial art catalog. Each model will have a trainer available. We're also planning some trainers for current models (Endura/Delica).

The catalog will be specialized and not available to everyone. This permits us to provide the tools and still be politically correct.

Sal,

That is pretty exciting. How does one get on the list for the catalog?

Sing - No list yet, but when we do this, I will make sure that you get a copy.

Ewok - Collectors get 1st option of everything Spyderco makes.

Please put me on the list to get that catalogue. It's time to update my Spydie collection.

A modest (and hasty) proposal, for people who want certain knives that the manufacturer especially doesn't want coming to the attention of a middle school boy's vice principal -

How about making "special" knives that are either normally for distribution in LEO and organized martial arts channels, as well as some "SKU Hell" variants for hard core cutlery enthusiasts, available through AKTI and/or AKTI-affiliated channels to AKTI members only?
