extremely nice Martin!!
what can you tell me about the half tanned leather?
I asked for some at Oregon leather and they didn't know what it was. Said it was probably just regular veg tanned?
TIA

Halftanned has a core of rawhide inside. It therefore has the combined properties of both materials. The feel, smell and touch of veggie tanned leather, but yet tougher, stiffer and harder to cut or penetrate. It keeps it's shape better and is more weatherproof. It's also harder to work with, but gives very pleasing results.
I heard from some U.S. based sheathmakers that it's extremely hard to become in the States.

in this pic you can clearly see the layers of rawhide.

It's the leather used by the traditional Scandinavians for their puukko's and leuku's..

so it is the same as Lap leather?
thanks for the information. Wish I could find some ...
