Water, shelter, fire, food. We need these things to survives and the skills to procure them. Then there is mental acuity. Keeping it together is the first thing you need to do. Stop, look around, assess the dangers and formulate a plan.

I needed all of these things this morning. After strenous session of opening gifts, the family suddenly found themselves famished.

Stop and assess the situation. Five famished people and I need to get ahead of this situation pronto! Thank God, I had my breeden's on hand. Some serious batoning action was required.

Overall - the breeden bit through the pineapple cleanly. I know, some of you are thinking to yourselves - Is that crazy man batoning with only a 0.125" thick blade. Sometimes you just have to put your faith in the maker on these things - that and a good heat treat! The only drawback I could see was that the 0.125" thickness was a bit hard on the baton.

A little mango action.

Mission completed. Not a single family member is going to succumb to scurvy today :D

The horror of it all!

Now I'm hungry for pineapple.

man , those breedens sure take a beating :D. hope you can get out all of the inevitable blade dings that result from those nasty pinapple knots.

Fantastic. You just made my day.

:D Great stuff K!

Did you get a fruit basket for Christmas instead of the knives you wanted? Had to destroy it out of spite, didn't ya? :p:D

LOL WOW With abuse like that. This next knife that I am going to start for you Ken, in a few days I am glad you did not want it any thinner in steel thickness than what you said you wanted it made out of. That type of cutting and battoning is just down right scary:eek:. But I am glad that you and your family are not going to go hungry today. And I am really glad the heat treat held up.:D

Take care,

Bryan

Glad you enjoyed guys!

Survival tip: Add the juice of a lemon or a lime to your fruit cocktail. The acidity inactivates the enzyme responsible for browning of fruits like apples!

Hope you all are having a great day!

Great shots. Tasty fruit! I love mangos, especially with a bit of coconut milk and rice--yum.

Damn man are ya crazy, you should never abuse knives like that, if ya gonna do stuff like that use an axe and a prybar !!!!

That's some serious batoning action.
I did some serious chopping abuse with my Benchmade Gravitator on deadly chestnuts(sorry, no pics:().

That's all fine and good, but if the banana didn't hold up under the test, I won't be buying any.

The heat treat was bad on that particular banana. The factory is sending a replacement free of charge.
:D

Chaquita has crappy heat treat but good customer service :D

Given that they manufacture bananas you have to allow for the odd slip up every once in awhile!!!
