This is what I use for a vice....This is the bottom of the legs, they are adjustable by the thin board with holes in it and the dowl. It does not get moved often. The jaws are padded with shoe insoles and coverd with scrap leather.
I can't take credit for it. This is the way leg vices where made on jointer(carpenter) benches. Some of the old benches had both a leg vice and a tail vice.Pure brilliance. I love it!
What are the dimensions of that axe, Coop?
