I'd say 420HC. My MS 110 is tang stamped "MASTER SERIES BG42" on 1 side and "BUCK 110MSU USA" on the opposite.

 Having a bunch of time on my hands this morning, I went back through the BCCI Buck catalogs.

Armand, your knife has the 110(upside down U) blade which as you know indicates 1997. The only place that I could find the Master Series mentioned at all was in the 1998 Addendum catalog (unless I missed it) where it says the blades are BG-42.

Could it be possible that it's a "build out" using left over 1997 110 blades with left over MS handles or a pre-production prototype?

One of my lists of 110's shows some done with Masters Series leftover scales.

Catalog #2981.

I think it's more like a prototype... The whole set came from an ex Buck employee... and they are all mark the same... They are 1997s... That's before they even came out in the
catalog... But I don't really know what they are... Thanks PD for the help...

i have a scale prototype that does have the bg42 & 110MSU on the blade..
one side checked & one side smooth.. got it from Joe ..
