Master Smith test knives

Congratulations Jon. You make excellent knives. Your MS stamp and award are well deserved.

While holding the dagger I noticed an interesting phenomenon. When I held it at the correct angle one half of all the leaves would disappear. When I turned it slightly the visable half of the leaves would disappear and the other half of the leaves would reappear! I've never seen anything like it.

Chuck, I belive you're referring to the chatoyancy in the blade. The midvein in the leaves separates this and gives it that effect.

Peter, I'll look into closeups. I've been wanting to do a page on my site with detailed examples of my past damascus.
