MasterChief I got your folder in the mail this morning which was a bit surprising. Didn't expect it until Monday but I'll get to this here shortly.

First I have some other smaller jobs ahead of it that I'll knock out and we'll be doing some things on yours as I progress with some others since I can fit it inbetween some steps

The plan is to first strip the blade by bead blasting it. Then we'll focus on the thumb stud and I know from my own now that I can replace that one. Then we can move on to the Green Linen slab to replace the G10 side which I think can work fine on a smaller folder like this.

The most challenging request is the low rider clip mounted so as to not block the lanyard hole. I'll try it but its an aweful tight bend right at the very top of the clip where its usually a bit wider making it harder to fold over. We'll see though. In the mean time I've got some other jobs so this one will not be gotten to until next week, probably Monday.

Seen below are two quick before shots of it on my flat bed scanner for the record. We'll have those to compare to when its all done. Stay tuned.

Thanks

Sweet :) Thanks STR, I didn't think it would get to you that fast either! For once the US postal system impresses instead of dissapointing me. As for the clip if it's not going to work out, a regular/medium ride would work for me. Everything else sounds good, I'll stay tuned.

Hey STR,

Out of curiosity and before you get down to cutting things what are the color options you have available for g-10 and Micarta?

Ok lets see.

G10 currently I have orange, blue, black and tan, red and black, teal, and then a little of the jade green G11 and I also just bought some green G10 I have not seen yet but I'm not sure on that one as to if I'll use it or not.

Micarta, I have black linen, green linen, red linen, maroon linen, natural linen and ivory paper. (mastadon ivory so its yellow looking)

Then I have black canvas, green canvas, and natural canvas.

Hey,

Thanks for the list :) any chance you have enough of that green G-11 to do the small slab for my Alias II? I really like the color of it, also the fact that it is stronger makes me feel a little better about having one whole side without a liner.

.

Done. I have enough yes.

Hey STR,

I have a Spydie D2 Military that is a little under the weather, would you mind if I sent it in for a check up? It could just be sent back with the Alias. The knife was making an awful gritty metal on metal noise when I closed it and it wasn't locking up all that well so I took it apart and lubed it but that didn't help all that much. Also when reassembling it one of the screws for the back spacer got knocked off of the table bounced across the room and went into the depths of my heating ducts, man I'm a clod sometimes.

No problem, mail it out I'll be happy to look it over. I probably have the screw you lost or one like it.

Also, I apologize that I've had your Alias so long. I will get to it I promise you. I have just been swimming in work lately and have to take them one at a time when I get swamped like that. I'm catching up though.

Hey,

It's cool no need for apologies! I know how it is to get really busy, besides my cf caly III and my para are keeping my pocket very happy. I'll mail out the military on Monday morning, look for it on Wednesday.

Finally got a good start in on this one today also. Its coming along nicely at this point. Its a bit dirty and got some fingerprints on it but its moving forward at least.

Still have a low rider clip I need to make for this one but I have three that I need to make up now so I'll be doing all of those together.

Seen here is the knife equipped with the new G11 side, and the new thumb stud installed. Its also shown here with the bead blasted blade so I'll have to sharpen her up before shipping it home yet.

Stay tuned. We're almost there on this one Chief.

Man thats sweet :)! She looks fantastic. Sorry I havn't actually sent out the Military yet, I have been so busy I totally forgot about it but I 'll get it out sometime this week.

Hope you had a great holiday,

Ok Chief. This one is officially done now.

You are looking at a total here of

$30 for the low rider.

$5.50 for the thumb stud and screw.

$40 for the new side scale in G11.

$5 for the bead blasting and resharpening of the edge after blasting it all up to a nice satin type finish.

$4.60 shipping home.

Hope you can live with that.

Oh and the extra screw from the old clip, the thumb stud and screw, G10 side and old pocket clip are all in the box in a bag.

Neither of these came out that great for the time of day I took them but they are the best of the ones I did manage to get before mailing it off.
The suns glare and the flash combined to make it come out worse than I had hoped for how light they are. I moved it for the pocket clip shot which helped but by the time I uploaded them and got inside to the computer it was too dark to take more.

You'll like it in the hand. It looks pretty great and function is the same.

Hey STR,

Man that looks great :) just like I knew it would! I will be eagerly awaiting it's arrival. I'll post here when it arrives. As for payment how should I send it?

Paypal is fine at Lgtfutatcableone.net or you can mail me a check or money order if thats easier.

Thanks. You'll be happy with the folder. It turned out so well I may do some G11 on my own and keep it rather than sell it now.

Thats great! That G-11 seems like pretty neat stuff, and that thumb stud looks to be much more manageable. As for payment I'm going to mail out the military in the morning so I'll just send a money order with it.

I will let you know when it arrives.

Thanks
