Matched set of swords

They look good. Wish I could handle them to see how the balance is -- sounds like you've learned a lot since last year.

Sharp:
Overall - 31 3/8"
Blade - 23 1/2"
Hilt - 11 7/8"
Handle - 9 1/2"
Guard is 9" wide
Blade is 3/16ths thick and 1 7/16" wide
Weight is 2.4 pounds
POB - is 1/2 in front of the guard, 1 inch from the front of the handle.

Comments and critique welcome (I can take it:cool:)

I was just wondering what kind of sword you based these on to have such a long handle mated to such a short blade. ? Most of the historical European ones that pop into my head, with about that overall length, would have been one-handed swords. Or with a handle that long, I'd expect around 40" of blade.

Thanks everyone!

Sorry Erik and Robert, delivered them today (and got paid) so that is about it for pictures!

Thanks Dan! I have learned ALOT since last year, and learned alot at the Fire and Brimstone hammer in that Kerry and Matt Stagmer hosted at they're place this year, things keep getting better and better and I love learning so much, it's getting exciting! I have learned alot with these swords also, and look forward to putting it into practice with the Ashokan contest swords with both a damascus piece and a mono steel piece( I couldn't decide which to make so I will make both :D). I might have these guys with me also this year, along with a few others.

Possum, they are very unusual and in NO way I know of historical in any way. The guy's specs he gave me were almost exactly the same as the longsword I posted awhile back, but with a blade that is 1 foot shorter and that is what these are. With the balance point so close to the guard and the long handle you can really generate some serious leverage, so they might not be historical or even historically based but they are good swords in that they seem to be able to do what swords were made to do well.

Oh, well that explains it. Gotta keep the customer happy! Thanks for the reply.
