Matching Busse Up With Firearms

Hey STRABS, what's up man?

Did she let you out of your cage for a few posts?

LMAO

Sig 220 is a fine weapon, but you'll never keep it.I've hade one, all my friends have had one. They have all been replaced.
Find yourself one of the Kimbers that has "Elite" in the name. All custom shop guns
No longer made, Used you can find one from $600-$1100 Les Bauer is good stuff.
I'm not much of a S&W fan, but I did get a 945 on a trade. It is a Perfomance shop gun. It won the Ill. State bullseye championship I have a new respect for S$W now....
"Oh,by the way" I just got a new Aftershock Bolo to mate up with my McBro's .50bmg.....
Happy shooting. Chuck

Maybe it's the testosterone.

There just ain't nuthin' like a good pistol and a good knife. Now, don't go saying I forgot good women, cuz lovin's got little to do with fighting with a pistol or surviving with a knife. I appreciate the touch of a good woman, and I have the best, but appreciating the touch of cold steel is something that is in our genes, and is undeniable. Finely machined steel is one of the beauties of living in the modern age, but even earlier man knew the value of fine steel.

Knives and guns. Guns and knives. Maybe toss in a fishing pole or two, and a good Cigar.

Manly stuff indeed.

(How's that for only two Sam Adams Cream Stouts?)

Springfields, Rugers, Glocks, Wilson Combat, and Taurus. That takes care of my handgun preferences. . . . I'm afraid my longarm list will spill onto a second page. . . .

Yours in nuclear hand cannons,

Hmmmm.....

I'm not sure....

I like all the models too much...

I'm curious that there's nobody here who mentioned HK pistols... They're about as tough as they come, in my experience.

Guess I'll saddle up, too.
What I fail to comprehend is how someone can spend $500 + on a great firearm, and balk at buying a decent holster for it. They'll slap down $600 for a Sig, and then act like you're nuts for suggesting a decent leather rig because they can't imagine spending "that much money" for "just a holster". How many times have you heard someone ask for a "good" holster for $20? Gotta love the guys who buy that $600 Sig, and then get ONE box of hardball for self-defense because those Hydra-shoks and Cor-Bons are too expensive. No practice ammo, naturally.

Anyway, much as I love the P220 and Glock 23, I'm a revolver nut at heart, and think a NO and 4" Python (ok, I wish I'd got a 6" tube-and not just for blade/bbl symmetry

) make quite the pair for the great outdoors.

Regarding Mas Ayoob and classes in the Northwest, the Firearms Academy of Seattle (FAS) is hosting an LFI class by Mas this weekend (7th and 8th) at their range in Chehalis, WA. FAS is owned by Marty and Gila Hayes. See their site at firearmsacademy.com for more info.

As rdnzl stated, we are lucky to have two great holster makers in the area, Kramer and Blade Tech. I use Kramer horsehide for daily carry and Blade Tech for training clases. I believe that kydex is too noisy for many situations, on the otherhand kydex won't rot in the jungle.

Almost forgot to state what I put in the holster's, Glocks in .40 S&W.

What about 1911's and a stright handle Badger Attack. Those two and a couple of mags drag my pants down everyday. I haven't built my own knives yet but I will claim the .45 as "Dancrafted". Blades are next.

Dan.

My guns also ride in Kramer horsehide except when I carry both Kimbers, then one rides in a Kirkpatrick crossdraw. When in the field I sometimes use a Fobus for the Glock. My youngest daughter has confiscated my Mean Street, which she carries with her S&W model 15 that she inherited from my grandfather who used it as his duty weapon when he was a police officer.Glad this post had such a good response.

OwenM,

I'm with you on the holsters. The same goes for blade sheaths. Doesn't make any sense.

Stomper,

I am truly sorry about your MS. I think I would need counseling. However, what better reason than your daughters self protection aye! Cudo's on this thread. YOU DA MAN!

Out.

I remember the old days...I had a Colt Python, and I put it in an Uncle Mike's shoulder holster. I thought that was a real sweet rig. Until I got a "Dirty Harry" rig for it. It's been nothing but quality leather for me since then. I'm partial to inside the waistband models nowadays, but there is NOTHING quite as comfortable as a good quality shoulder holster under a jacket.

I have also had some Mitch Rosen gear, and although it's real pricey, Mitch has the finest fit and finish on ANY pistol leather I have ever seen. Almost too nice! His Ayoob Rear Guard is perfection.

I'll just about bet you that if Kenny Rowe makes any pistol holsters, they are real nice too.

p.s. I forgot about another of my favorite combos....Ruger SP101 in a Kramer IWB#2 and a Mean Street in Kydex, worn IWB on opposite side....with a light shirt on, I DARE you to spot the steel I'm wearing

rdnzl,

I was waiting to see if anybody was going to mention Mitch Rosen. It is far and away, THE BEST YOU CAN GET. He is the Busse of Gun Leather.

My first pistol was a Polished Nickel Colt Python I got from my father.

I have been looking at his (Rosen's) "WORKMAN" for an ultra-conceal shirt over tuckable IWB rig. I e-mailed them some questions and they responded requesting I call instead as it would be easier to answer that way. I can't decide if I would like th regular or slimline better.

Can you imagine any Busse in one of his rigs. Maybe a shark or eel skin for an E- Badger. It would be expeeeeeeeeensive!

If you guys want to see the best gun leather in the world, go to www.mitchrosen.com.

The Mean Street is the best daily carry I have ever owned. Mine rides better IWB with my custom Concealex sheath than any, pocket lip destroying, folder I have ever owned.

Out.

Kimber Pro Carry, satin chrome frame, blued slide, rosewood grips. Either strong side in a first gen. Bianchi Pistol Pocket (abt. 25 yrs old) with thumb break removed, or deep concealment butt forward behind L. hip, inside shirt, no holster. Ashley Express sights. Spare mags are Wilson 8 rounders, unless I have my Bureaucrat Special.

Trips to "civilization" usually include a pre-68 German PPK, done lately in satin nickel, in an old Bianchi Model 12 ankle rig that's about to be replaced.

Recently moved up from Blackie Collins LW Folding Mamba to SERE 2000 folder. Still have Russell Trout & Bird around neck, Leatherman PSTII on waist next to Streamlight Stinger (Stinger at work, Sure-Fire 6Z during visits to "civilization" on time off).

Buckle is 20+ year old single edge Bowen Survivor (440C and it opens bottles) in custom Bandera Gunleather "Beltster," which offers two more carry options for a 1911 (or two).

Sometimes road trips include Bushmaster carbine (which fits into a Homelite case).

On missions into the Great Outdoors, I have my Steelheart II (put it in my "car kit" before a recent drive across the state via multiple passes), but I probably won't be carrying a Busse daily until the folder comes out -- hint, hint, and oh-so-subtle HINT.
