I prefer that my hunting blades match whichever rifle I'm carrying at the time. I intend to use a Mule or two this season, so I made an inlay of a 7mm Rem. Mag. nickel cartridge head into one of the Mules with oak scales. It can now be carried with a Ruger 77 in that chambering, along with an Impala and a Spydersaw
.
Seeing them on the same scale, I was struck by the similar sizes of the primer pocket and the lanyard tube. They almost looked redundant. I decided the inlays should be integrated with the lanyard tube, one on each side. For the other Mule with walnut scales, I used a nickel-plated .308 Win. on one side and a .270 Win. on the other so it can now be carried with either the .308 BLR or the .270 A-Bolt shown in the photo without feeling off-balance
. A couple of other blades got similar treatment for other rifles.
I thought you may enjoy seeing a couple more finished Mules ready to hunt.
Regards, ss.
