Matchlock axe/gun

BRUCE!!!!! That is a beautiful piece of art and functional, too! I believe you mentioned it was a .38 cal? Have you gotten a bullet mold for it yet? It is just unbelieveable the beauty you've put into this. I want to see updated pictures when the rubies go in!

I've always loved that concept, and that is the most exotic example of a matchlock axe I've ever seen. Pleeeease post a pic of the whole kit when finished.

Thankx guys!
Northstarxo, Im working on the bullet mould now. It will shoot a pill shaped bullet instead of round. They will be casted in sterling silver just for show or in case a warewolf needs shot.:D

Bruce it is of course outstanding ! The great part is knowing there is more there than meets the eye . I think some of us want to see how the head and barrel are joined and what the end of the barrel looks like ?

Kevin You are right, there is something going on all over this piece. I have spent over 2 years in the making and most of it was proceedures Ive never done before. The engraving and silver and gold inlays were done by professionals but the forging and machine work is my own. The barrel is lathe turned, bored, threaded, keyed for the head and sleeved for the final .38 caliber bore.
I want to post pictures but need to wait until it is completed and have Jim Cooper shoot the real photos. I hate to hog band width.

Thats great Bruce . I think we all look forward to those pics !

Perhaps whey you post the pics you could explain keyed . I understand the term from glueing . I doubt if it is the same definition here . I of course am referring to when you said the barell was theaded and keyed for the head . I get the threaded part ! L:O:L

Hi Kevin, The threaded end of the barrel is simply to screw the muzzle nut on which holds the axe head. The nut is also threaded inside to accept the threaded ram rod. The key Im talking about is simply a brass woodruff style that keeps the head from turning. Pretty simple actually. Thanks for the interest. If you email me I can shoot some assembly images for ya.
