I am beginning the process of thinning out my collection of fixed blades. This will be the first knife/thread, since I want to be very detailed with each for transparency. This is a 7 1/2 inch carry knife with a friction fit basket weave pattern leather sheathe. The knife is an old Sole Authorship of PinoyKnife/Matt Cook. The blade is 3 1/2 inches of Damascus with a beautiful Snakewood handle with Nickel-Silver rivets that nicely contrast with the dark red of the wood. I've kept this nice put away safely for a very long time, hasn't even cut anything yet, just the sheathe has aged a little as leather is expected. This is one of the first knives when he started to stamp his knives with the new "Pinoy" logo, which would later become the Mantis stamp.
Nit-picky details circled in the pictures:
- There's just the smallllest wow on the ground on the stamped side, located in the picture with the arrow. The rest of the grind is perfect otherwise and satisfyingly sharp
- There appears to be a small blemish in the handles finish as circled towards the finger grooves, more than likely the finish due to being exposed for awhile before being stored
- I'm unsure, but it looks like there's a small scratch on the top of the blade on the unstamped side, though it's tough to tell since Damascus pattern leaves it hard for me to judge. It looks like a result of the forging process rather than damage from storage.
- The leather sheathe's belt clip is unsurprisingly a little rusted, alongside the rivet above it, and I don't want to mess with it. The rest of the sheathe looks just like it has when it was made.
