I have an excellent condition Matt Lamey large utility kitchen knife with a 1095 carbon steel blade and a textured full-tang black linen micarta handle for sale. Like Japanese kitchen knives such as the Kershaw Shun line, the blade is ground thin for maximum sharpness, and while I wouldn't recommend hacking up bones with this piece, it should be up to just about any other task in the kitchen.
This piece is differentially tempered. There is a hamon on the blade that I could not get to show up in the pictures, but it's readily visible when viewing the actual knife under good lighting.
I've used this knife a little bit since receiving it from Matt, but the only sign of wear that it shows is a slight patina starting to develop on the blade. I have resharpened the knife once on Japanese waterstones, but it is now sharper than when I first got it. When I have used it, it has been a cutting machine in the kitchen, slicing and chopping with great ease.
***SOLD***
The specs:
Condition: Excellent
Blade length: 7 3/8" cutting edge
Overall length: 12 1/4"
Blade thickness: 1/8" at ricasso
Blade steel: 1095
Blade finish: Handrubbed
Edge: Plain
Handle material: Black linen micarta, textured
For payment, I prefer USPS money orders, but I will also accept PayPal and cash (at your own risk). If you are paying by PayPal, I will cover the fees, but the payment has to be sent with a PayPal-confirmed address (including the green "confirmed" marker) listed in the invoice, and I will only ship to that PayPal-confirmed address. I will only accept a personal check if I know you, and I reserve the right to wait for it to clear before I ship.
I will consider trades for custom folders. However, I am not interested in serrated blades, production knives, or fixed blades other than small (less than 5" blade) Hossoms or Russ Andrews at this point in time.
Feel free to post, email, or PM any questions. Thanks for looking!
