Matthew Otto custom knife

my name is Matthew Otto, I'm the Lead Grinder @ Chris Reeve Knives and this is my first custom knife. How did I do?

The grind is truly amazing and the choice of handle material is
an outstanding piece of wood!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

The execution, in particular the grinding, looks excellent. The design is pretty good.

Good eye! the design and materials really flow well together. Nice grinding too!

VERY nice and that wood is just incredible.

Thanks for posting it and hope to see more of your work.

Peter

Nice work Matt, I haven't been frequenting this forum lately but it's good to see you here and with some work of your own. How's the new shop?

Wow! Nice job Matt! Keep up the great work!

Excellent work. You really nailed the grind, but I would expect you to:D I would agree with the previous poster about the spacer. It looks good, but my personal preference would be either no spacer, some kind of metal or a contrasting spacer of some other natural material. I know that you are gilding the lily a bit when you say that it is your first custom, because you have been grinding very high quality knives for a good while, but this is still an outstanding piece considering that you are working in a new area for the first time. I would tell you not to quit your day job, but purely for financial as opposed to artistic reasons. LOL But, you might just have a built in audience considering where you currently work. Let's see some more!!!

very nice. love the grind and the smooth low arc of the back of the spine. this looks very ego friendly and a heck of a cutter. Do you plan to sell eventually or is this just a hobby?
BTW welcome to BF

First Mr.Cook now Mr.Otto. Very nice lines. What steel is it ? That lanyard looks familar:). Nice work lets see some others.

the steel is S30V (God help me!) 58Rc, and I have a similar knife that I just finished. I'll post photos as soon as I figure out how. My computer is so old I have to start it with a bow drill.

Matthew - That is super work. Cream always rises to the top! Are you taking orders. :) Chris is probably wondering when you will be putting in your notice. :) That is a beautiful knife. You have a gift that you need to get individual credit for.
WOW!!!

That is one sexy looking fixed blade , looks very fast in the hand too.

What are the specs on it ? Oal ? Blade length ?

Yeah , I think you could see a few of those :)
