i was wondering if any one has made a maul or other axe type item from an old sledg hammer head? my sledge brok a while back and i still have the head, thinking that we were gonna put a new hickoy on it, but instead my dad got a whole new one. so now i have this old sledge hammer head with no haft, any ideas with what to do with it?

maul heads are as common and cheap as sledge heads in my area. put a new handle on it or use it as a door stop are about the only viable options

Seems like that would take a heck of a lot of grinding, but I don't see why it couldn't be done.

...any ideas with what to do with it?
Some blacksmiths in Nepal use big ol' sledgehammer heads as anvils to make khukuris. The head end sticks up out of a hardwood log embedded in the dirt floor. Maybe the heads need to be annealed first? So... maybe you could stick the head in a bucket of concrete to use as a portable anvil?
