I just recieved my sub hilt fighter named the OGG Ambush Bowie from knife maker Max Burnett(Ogg Custom Knives) yesterday. Man I love this knife. It fits my hand great and handles well for a big knife. It's one of the best looking knives I've ever personally handled, and is definitely the most beautiful knife I currently own.

Please note that this is Max's first sub hilt ever made (I got him to do it) and it's really well built. It's got an OAL of about 14.5 inches with a blade length of about 9 inches. I chose black micarta for the handle and brass for the guard and sub hilt, but I'm sure he'd let you pick whatever materials you like.

This is the first custom knife I have ever owned and I am extremely pleased. It's cool being involved through the whole process in which a knife is made and being able to give my own input. Max is a really good guy and I look forward to doing business with him again in the future.

I have three knives from Max right now, with a few more on order. Good looking, solid knives at very fair prices.

I also have a 4" kitchen/utility knife that was made by his late step father Robert Ogg. I will get a pic of it in the next day or so. Mr. Ogg obviously made a good solid knife, and Max seems to be carrying on that skill quite well. Im looking forward to getting my new ones.

Canis, Max has a photopoint site with some of the blades he has made, you can see his site here:

You guys better get Max's knives while you can!! After seeing his work and meeting him, he's going nowhere but up, and very fast!

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Canis Lupus? Ain't that a wolf? I used 1095 steel for the fighter in the pic. I'll use just about any good high carbon steel I have available. I'm going tribal with my work these days. VOODOO's figher was a prototype model, as I'd never made one before. Double difficult because I forged that one. That's how I got the curve in the handle. The double gaurd still gives me headaches when I think about it!
